AMERICAN REDSTART 12-06-1250573

LYME, CT American Redstart (Setophaga ruticilla) chick fledged from nest before it is able to fly. Many bird chicks leave their nests precociously, often before they can fly, to avoid loosing the the entire nest to predation. Chicks often remain hidden in separate locations on or near the ground around the nest, while the parents continue feeding them.
