GRISWOLD, CT The Connecticut DEP releases alewife herring into the Quinebaug River. The fish were trapped at Bride Brook, one of the state's last healthy runs, to restock depleted herring runs in other streams around the state. Anadromous herring runs have declined sharply in Connecticut over the past two decades.
