NEW LONDON, CT An Eastern Hemlock (Tsuga canadensis) tree with evidence of Hemlock woolly adelgid (Adelges tsugae) infestation. Hemlock wooly adelgid is an aphid native to Asia that destroys the host plant by feeding on the tree's sap. The white tufts are the aphids egg sacs.
