NIANTIC, CT The Connecticut DEP places a fish trap to catch alewife herring swimming upstream to spawn in the Bride Brook. Herring from Bride Brook, one of the last healthy runs, are captured to restock depleted herring runs in other streams around the state. Anadromous herring runs have declined sharply over the past two decades in Connecticut.
