LYME, CT Red Maple (Acer rubrum) is also know as Swamp Maple because it is commonly found near swamps and wetlands. It is, however, one of the most common trees in the U.S. and will grow in a wide variety of habitats. It is easily distinguished by its deep red foliage in autumn.
