NOME, AK The remains of three steam locomotives know as "The Last Train to Nowhere" lay rusting on the tundra outside of Nome, Alaska. The trains were brought to Alaska in 1903 during the height of the gold rush as part of the proposed Council City & Solomon River Railroad. The railroad was abandoned three years later, with only 35 miles of track completed, as the gold rush subsided.
